Grand Opening Event “A Hit”

Filed under: Uncategorized — Shellie @ 3:10 pm

We catered a grand-opening event yesterday for one of our new medical clients, PSH.  The chocolate edible spoons topped with peach mousse stole the show.

Grand-opening events are a specialty of ours.  Here are some helpful hints:

  • Try to hold your event on a day that is convenient for the target audience you are trying to reach.  The most popular day of the week is Thursday for business “invitation-only” grand-openings and Saturday for events that are open to the public.
  • The event shouldn’t last too long, but should be timed well with work schedules in mind.  We have found that 4 to 6:30 p.m. is usually the best time period.  Guests leave a bit early from work and stop at your event on their way home.
  • Try to be realist about the number of guests that may attend.  Usually 100-200 guests is a great rule of thumb.  However, we once handled an opening for a local bank that gave away $10,000.00.  Needless to say, they had over 1500 guests attend!

Tip of the Month:
How to Coat the Edge of a Cocktail Glass

1. Melt about 3 ounces of semisweet or white chocolate in a microwave. (It takes about 1 minute to melt.)

2. Holding a glass at an angle, dip a small portion of the rim into chocolate. Lift slightly, and rotate about 1 1/2 inches. Repeat around entire rim, making sure chocolate swags are the same size. Refrigerate glasses until ready to serve.

Spring is Here

Filed under: Weddings — Shellie @ 11:27 am

Spring is in the air, and I am excited about the upcoming event season.  We have been in business for almost 13 years (this July), but yet we are still excited about each and every one of our clients and events.

This new blog will hopefully keep you updated on the latest in catering and event planning.  We plan to show you some of our corporate and social events–with pictures and event details!  We strive to keep our events exciting and original so keep checking back with us.

Today we did a tasting for our bride, Christy, from Ft. Smith (yes we do weddings and events in Ft. Smith).  Her wedding in October promises to be awesome, and we can’t wait.  Plus you should see her Christian LouBoutin shoes!!

Have a great week.

There is a reason that we are the best—and it is because we truly care about our brides and their special day.

Menus and More…

Every few months, Chef Jay looks at our pricing and makes adjustments.  Recently, we changed to a new wholesale food company.   And guest what?  Many of our prices have actually decreased!  Perfect timing in a “not so stable” economy.  The Event Group Catering is known for our upscale menus and service.  However, we do have many lower priced menus that would fit anyone’s budget.  Give us a call for a complimentary quote.

Coming Soon:  Vertical Buffets

We are always searching for new and inventive ways to display our food.  A catering friend from Utah created the vertical buffet, and we will give that WOW factor to our clients with this modern and contemporary display.  Available Spring 2009.

The latest event trends involve contemporary, modern looks with clean lines and less fuss.  Monochromatic styles and monogramming are also still hot.

Hors d’oeuvres & More–Parties To Go

The Event Group Catering is launching our new Hors d’oeuvres & More–Parties To Go concept.  Hors d’oeuvres & More lets you bring the party to your own door.  Some of our most popular hors d’oeuvre items will be available to purchase “by the dozen” or “by the tray”.  We will be able to advise you on your menu choices and quantities, if needed.

You can easily pick up your order at our kitchen door and deliver it to your event—perfect for the host that wants to handle all the details.  Watch for our upcoming Hors d’oeuvres & More menu and more.
