July 4th: A Fun Party Opportunity

Did you know the 4th of July is one of the biggest family events/days of the summer? Spend time with your family and friends instead of slaving over a hot stove all day and call The Event Group for a wonderful meal.  View 4th of July Menu

Or if you prefer hors d’oeuvres, our Hors d’oeuvres & More - Parties To Go is another great option.

Easy Sand Candles

Here is an easy, yet cute centerpiece that almost anyone can do—a simple and inexpensive option for your 4th of July party décor.  Sand is available in a variety of colors at art-supply stores and craft stores.

To make a sand candle, fill a clear drinking glass with enough sand so that a votive candle placed on top falls just below the rim. Set the glass inside a clear glass vase or jar. With a funnel, fill the gap between the two containers with layers of colored sand, using enough to reach the rim of the drinking glass.

Name that Dessert

We need your help in naming one of our new dessert items.  This new dessert is a chocolate covered brownie lollipop.  It is truly decadent!  In fact, we plan to mass produce them in July for our “Christmas in July” holiday promotion.

The lollipop will be available in milk chocolate, covered with multi-colored sprinkles or coated with crushed nuts.  So, put your creative thinking cap on and help us name this wonderful new item!
Email us your names.

Free Lunch

Congratulations to our first free lunch recipient—the University of Arkansas Graduate Recruitment department.  You could be next!

Who ever said there was no such thing as a free lunch? Not The Event Group Catering.  Each month we will cater a lunch at one local company for up to 20 employees, at absolutely no charge to your company.  It is simple to register, just email us at eventgroup@nwark.com and put “Free Lunch” in the subject line.  Subject to date availability.

“Rock for Rush” Event

Filed under: Events — Shellie @ 3:40 pm

We helped with a great charity event last week benefiting Pat Rush.  Pat is the husband of Janice Rush, my long-time hair stylist.  He has leukemia, and the Rock for Rush event helped to raise money for his treatment.  The event was held on June 18 at the UARK Ballroom.

Many great friends and colleagues helped by donating their services:  The UARK Ballroom, Eventures, Off The Press, Party House, B. Styled, John Giver, the Studio 8 Staff, The Event Group and event directors, Becky Wright, Nikki Corning and Benton Cooprider.

Event organizers are estimating around $13,000.00 was raised.  Please feel free to contact me if you have a donation, and I would be happy to get it to the Rush family.

Keene/Kissinger Wedding

Congratulations to Ashley Keene and Justin Kissinger!  They had a fabulous wedding and reception at Stone Chapel at Matt Lane Farm this past weekend.  The weather was warm, but not too bad for a June summer day.

The apple green and hot pink color scheme looked fabulous for the outdoor reception.  Beautiful floral arrangements by Country Gardens of Springdale added to the overall decor.

Ashley and Justin chose a wonderful mix of hors d’oeuvre items–a roast beef carving station, watermelon fruit basket, traditional deviled eggs, spinach artichoke dip, crab puff pastries and BBQ meatballs.

Herb Garden

Last night, I picked some fresh basil from my small herb garden to flavor some tomato soup.  It added that extra little taste touch that I just love.

June 6: A Big Wedding Day

Filed under: Weddings — Shellie @ 1:11 pm

We had a great weekend, this past Saturday, with three weddings on the schedule.  Congratulations to Jodie Pufall and Brad Reagan, Angela Brown and Brian Blair and Ashley Hubbs and Sean Dorey.

The weather turned out beautifully at all the locations.  The Pufall/Reagan reception was held at The Event Place, the Brown/Blair reception was held outdoors on the grounds of Bell Gable Chapel and the Hubbs/Dorey reception was held at the UARK Ballroom.

We coordinated the Hubbs/Dorey wedding as well as catered the reception.  A beautiful ceremony was held at the Central United Methodist Church on Dickson Street.  Afterwards, Ashley, Sean and the bridal party walked down Dickson Street to their reception at the UARK.  Thedford Photography was busy snapping wonderful photos along the way.

Her menu incorporated spinach artichoke dip, a monogrammed watermelon fruit basket with fruit kabobs, bruschetta, chicken caprese crostinis and salmon crostinis, jerk chicken skewers and shrimp puff pastries.  Instead of a groom’s cake, we did chocolate dipped strawberries and the groom’s favorite–banana pudding, which we placed in shot glasses and topped with whipped cream.

The guests held beautiful sparklers while the happy couple dashed to their car.  Congratulations Ashley and Sean!

Our First Bat Mitzvah!

We had the honor of coordinating and catering our first Bat Mitzvah event on May 23 for Deborah Greene.  This was a weekend celebration with family and friends marking the special occasion.

Friday evening, Deborah’s grandparents hosted a small, intimate gather at the Botanical Gardens for out-of-town family.  It was a beautiful setting with celladon linens, pale yellow ribbons and Spring flower arrangements by Jules Design.  We served pecan-crusted salmon, chicken breasts sauteed with white wine, tomatoes and mushrooms, garlic mashed potatoes, broccoli drizzled with a light butter sauce, creme brulee, petit fours and biscotti.

Saturday morning, the Bat Mitzvah ceremony was held at the Fayetteville Town Center, followed by a light luncheon of miniature egg salad and tuna sandwiches, pastries, vegetables and dip, watermelon fruit basket and bagels with lox and cream cheese.

The big party was held that evening, also at the Fayetteville Town Center in the large Ozark room.  We transformed the room to reflect Deborah’s favorite color, purple.  The linens and flowers all reflected her color scheme.  But the highlight of the evening was Deborah’s elegant “Candy Station”.

We draped purple fabric, hung a beautiful chandelier and special ordered all purple-colored candies to make the station the hit of the evening.  Her friends actually ran to it!  Miniature purple Chinese take-out containers were available for guests to store their candy within.

We really enjoyed being a part of this event and helping the Greene family realize Deborah’s special day.  It was definitely memorable…
